2009 OUTSTANDING MASTER FARMER AWARD     I am forwarding information regarding the Outstanding Master Farmer Award for 2009. For 2009 sixty six certified Master Farmers are eligible for nomination. There are three files attached. The first is a sample of the personal letter that has been sent to each eligible producer announcing the 2009 award nomination process. The second attachment is a list of the producers who are eligible for the 2009 award based on the year in which they were certified. And the third attachment is the award nomination requirements. A certified Master Farmer can nominate themselves or they can be nominated by a third party. However, they can not be provided a letter of reference by an employee of the AgCenter, NRCS or LDAF. NRCS employees can assist eligible producers with filling out their nomination paperwork and  can and should encourage the nomination, either by the producer themselves or a third party, of certified Master Farmer(s) we have worked with when it seems appropriate. Please review the attachments, discuss with local Parish AgCenter agents and pass this information on to others as you see fit. Please note that nominations must be received by November 20, 2009.
